Beyond the impending end of Windows 7 support, upgrading to Windows 10 offers several advantages such as enhanced security features and a more modern interface. However, it also introduces new requirements and potential compatibility issues with older hardware or software. The additional functionality can feel overwhelming if you're not familiar with the changes.

It will keep the support, but there are some downsides. At least if you're ready to put in effort, you can remove many unwanted Windows 10 actions. Honestly, I’ve often reset my Windows 10 and never had forced updates or anything too bad. Just go with it and enjoy the benefits.

It seems you're planning a big overhaul. I should be okay as long as I eliminate the unwanted stuff from my routine. On my PC, I mainly stream Twitch, play a slightly modified Skyrim, work on music production, and use Space Engine.

Be mindful of possible major changes that might not go well (except for occasional forced fixes). It’s wise to maintain backups if you don’t have a dedicated operating system drive.

Having a separate operating system drive could be beneficial.
