Hello!
I noticed a lot of videos discussing different CPUs. I saw comparisons ranging from an i5 7400 to an i7 8700 with Core 2 Duo E7500. Most of these videos pair the more powerful CPU with a very good GPU, like the i7 8700k with a GTX 1080TI. In such cases, the FPS difference can be around 50 FPS, but this doesn’t fully show the CPU performance alone, since the i3 8100 might limit the GTX 1080TI.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare CPUs with a GPU that doesn’t cause bottlenecks, such as a GTX 1060 or GTX 1050?

it shows CPU performance variations during that task. bottlenecking is merely a sensationalized word to name a restricting part in specific situations.
and if you need results for lower-end GPUs, they evaluate three different resolutions to capture that.

With the strongest GPU, it becomes more likely to face CPU limitations rather than GPU constraints. No?

No, I wouldn't agree with that.
When evaluating a single component like a CPU, you aim to ensure no other part hinders its performance. This approach isolates the CPU so you can clearly demonstrate its superiority over alternatives. If other components are present, it changes the testing scenario and doesn't accurately compare CPU performance directly.

When checking the CPU, you must provide it with all the necessary resources to achieve its full capacity, as that's what you aim to discover.

This also helps a lot, as it's really clear and explains a lot.

I favor calling it a waste of money

When evaluating CPU performance in a game, the goal is to eliminate every possible source of limitations. Here, you provide the CPU with the strongest GPU available, ensuring the GPU isn't the cause of any slowdown.
