Prohibited from GTA 5 Steam Forum for referencing Anita Sarkeesian
Yesterday I shared a joke about a mod changing Anita Sarkeesian’s role in GTA 5. Shortly after, the post was removed and I faced a week-long ban from the GTA 5 forums citing it as inappropriate. While I acknowledge Steam can enforce its own rules, I’m curious if we’ve reached a stage where simply recognizing her existence crosses into problematic territory. She’s now widely discussed in gaming circles, and I think people should be able to discuss her openly. My point was just to bring this up.
Wow, seriously? If I were you, I’d file a complaint right away and be aggressive. If that fails, I’d turn to Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms to voice my frustration!
They seem to be enforcing some rules strictly. Likely, they had prior knowledge of that individual on the platform.
I'm here to argue in favor of the mods' decision. If she noticed this, it could spark another effort against Rockstar over how their games reinforce misogyny, etc. The mods likely don't want such a backlash since it harms both the community's and the developer's image. That's just my take... ^THIS^
