My Windows 7 system stopped working after I connected an old HDD with pictures and videos. The computer reported it couldn't fix the issues and shut down. After unplugging the drive, the startup took about four minutes, and my audio and USB 3 devices still failed to load even after reloading them. I keep downloading Realtec, but my system shows the sound device as High Definition Audio Device Microsoft. Is Microsoft the same as Realtec or is it taking control?

Is there a program that can perform a full check and repair of my motherboard and drives?
Windows 7 Pro
6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
64 Bit
MSI motherboard MS-7641
AMS FX 8350 Eight-Core
SMBIOS 2.6

Avoid purchasing pc repair apps. They may contain malware or cause further problems.
It seems there was an issue with the HDD leading to complications.
It appears the drive might have been infected with a virus or malicious software.
If you possess data from the drive you wish to recover, connect it using a USB adapter rather than plugging it into the motherboard internally.
I believe the problem lies in software.
Basic pc operations can be verified through a RAM test.
Use memtest86 or memtest86+; they start from a USB drive and do not rely on Windows.
You can find them at:
MemTest86 - Official Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool
MemTest86 is the original self-booting memory testing software for x86 and ARM systems, compatible with both BIOS and UEFI, offering USB booting options.
www.memtest86.com
Memtest86+ | The Open-Source Memory Testing Tool
Memtest86+ is a robust, free, open-source standalone tool for 32- and 64-bit computers (supports UEFI & BIOS), with the ability to run from USB.
www.memtest.org
If a complete pass with no errors succeeds, your RAM should be functioning properly.
Performing additional passes occasionally helps detect issues, though it requires more time.
Unless you strongly suspect a RAM problem, consider this step unnecessary.
Then attempt booting in safe mode using F8; this will launch Windows with minimal safe drivers installed.
If this works, the issue likely resides in your driver configuration.
I recommend reinstalling the motherboard chipset drivers directly from the manufacturer’s website.
