I’m working on achieving stable 3600Mhz RAM, focusing on XMP configurations. Despite my efforts, I’m still encountering the bluescreen (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP), which suggests a possible RAM issue. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Activated the XMP profile, but the machine frequently fails to boot.
- The CPU remains unaffected and stays within safe temperatures during stress tests.
- Prime95 [Blend] stopped working after just one minute with XMP enabled.
- Raised the RAM voltage to 1.4V, which is the recommended maximum for DDR4 under continuous use.
- HCI Memtest runs smoothly for about eight hours.
- Under regular tasks, the system crashes only occasionally—usually during web browsing.
- I never let the CPU exceed 80°C during these tests.
- When I attempted to manually set the 3600Mhz XMP profile in BIOS, the computer froze and required a CMOS reset.
Currently, I’m hesitant about changing these settings, especially since I need the machine for other purposes. One concern is whether running extended stress tests (like 24 hours) is necessary, given my current usage patterns. I also learned that Prime95 isn’t ideal for thorough testing, and I’m aware that my setup doesn’t perfectly match the advertised specs.

- How can I enhance memory stability with a Ryzen 3000 CPU?
- What’s the safe daily voltage range for RAM under regular use?
- Can RAM overheating occur without visible temperature sensors?
- Should I consider upgrading to a new motherboard, even though I’m not planning a CPU upgrade to the 5000 series?
- Are there better memory stress-test tools available? I’m open to lowering RAM speeds if stability becomes an issue.

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT (stock, no XMP)
- RAM: GSkill RipJaws V DDR4 3600 (16–19–19, 32GB, 1.4V)
- GPU: Radeon RX 570 SSD

- Latest drivers are installed.
- I’m using the Ryzen Balanced Power Profile.
- Windows 10 is the same version as before.
- Previous upgrades included Ryzen 5 1600 and 16GB RAM.
After testing various settings, some unexpected results emerged: - Slightly lowering the SOC voltage helped a bit, but not enough to significantly improve daily stability; it still caused occasional blue screens. - Using LLC levels at 3 (medium setting) reduced stability for regular use. - Setting RAM to 3200 MHz didn’t resolve the issue. - Windows power plans also had a minor impact on performance. - The AMD Ryzen profile recommended for Windows 10 caused problems. Win10 High Perf. seemed more stable overall. - The unofficial 1usmus power plan made things worse, even after BIOS tweaks. - Blue screens appeared only during idle or light tasks like web browsing; they didn’t happen under stress tests or gaming. I ran every available stress test and never saw a failure, even overnight. I’m aware these might not reflect real-world use. Blue screens didn’t appear during gaming. Possible fixes: - Clean Windows 10 or reinstall it. - Turn off Ryzen 3000 boosting behavior; it seems to be the culprit. - Use a fixed multiplier (e.g., 39x) instead of dynamic settings. - Disable power-saving features for that CPU. - Avoid XMP profiles altogether, though that would sacrifice performance.
