Product key transfer
Product key transfer
Hi.
I’ve looked into transferring Windowa 10/11 Product Keys, but I’m still a bit uncertain.
First, if I reinstall Windows on the same PC without any hardware changes, do I need to re-enter the key or will it activate automatically?
Second, if I want to activate Windows on new hardware or a brand-new PC, what happens to the old one?
It should turn on automatically.
This license applies to 1 license key for 1 PC. It cannot be used on both the old and new systems.
Is this license connected to your MS account?
If you visit microsoft.com and log in with your MS account, does this platform and its licensing look correct? Or when you navigate to Settings - System - Activation, what information does it display?
Sorry, this is actualy an OEM license and I know its untransferable. I want to get a retail key
OK then...purchase one.

Sorry, I misunderstood your request. I didn't know which license type was best and I'm here to explain how you can transfer a 25 character license in different scenarios.
Based on your later remarks, there is no "transfer". You're assembling a new PC and require its own license. It seems you might prefer Win 11 Home unless you're certain about needing the additional features in Pro. Purchasing the license directly from Microsoft means there is no "OEM" option. In the future, such a license could become transferable for a different system.
