Product key inserted into motherboard
I aimed to reinstall Windows 10 due to performance issues, but I mistakenly erased all data on the drives (C:, D:, and the installation ISO). I had to visit a repair shop where they installed an outdated version on a separate boot drive—definitely a cracked copy. I’ve been using it since version 22H2 after an update. I’m wondering if performing a reset this time aligns with Microsoft’s recommended steps, and whether I still retain the Windows 10 product key on my motherboard. I also had an authentication key during purchase.
When the key is saved in the UEFI, it remains accessible at 100%.
Are you located in the United States? Since all of this, I must admit I wouldn’t return my PC to that store again.
