I’m setting up Windows 10 on a sister’s laptop that might have malware. I need clarity: can I use the Windows 8 product key to install Windows 10, or must I reinstall Windows 8? Please get a clear answer with evidence if you can. Thanks, 30op

We continue to use Windows 7 and 8/8.1 keys for Windows 10 consistently in the workplace. It functions smoothly.

You can use the Win8 key and the Win10 upgrade assistant to enable Win10. The two Dell laptops you purchased three weeks ago came with Win7 Pro 64-bit, and after upgrading both to Win10 Pro 64-bit for free with the assistant, everything should function perfectly.
