You don't need a vice if you handle it carefully. Use a razor around the edge to clear as much glue as possible beforehand; this chip will be fixed, making it worth the small risk—provided Tech Deck doesn’t use the nickname mcshakeyhands in real life. It might not fix the issue when the thermal interface material between the CPU and heatsink is poor. If the TIM isn’t performing well, heat can become trapped inside the CPU case. I’m not sure how severe the problem is, but it’s possible a higher-quality cooler won’t fully address the situation.
