Hi, my Ryzen 5 3600 is reaching speeds above 4 GHz even without overclocking. This is usually due to thermal throttling. To fix it, you can try improving cooling with better fans or a cooler, or check for any dust buildup and clean it. If the issue persists, consider updating BIOS or checking for hardware issues.

4.2ghz represents the highest boost frequency available on a 3600 unit device.

It was mentioned earlier that at 4.2Ghz the CPU can increase performance independently. If you're experiencing thermal throttling on the standard CPU, you should reassess your cooling setup or improve case ventilation.

The cooler that comes with that CPU isn't great. I've tried three builds with it and swapped the cooler each time. A budget cm 212 Evo makes a big difference, or consider getting a Wraith Prism for a much cheaper option.

The Wraith Stealth performance isn't ideal. It outperforms the thermal management Intel offers for their CPUs. It only throttles at 3600 degrees unless the case ventilation is extremely poor. What case are you using?

Front glass installed, and were any additional fans included with the original 120mm exhaust unit?
