I and my friend shared the same Intel i5-12400f CPU. During COD sessions, my machine's CPU temperature reached 100°C while his stayed around 70°C. The main difference was in the GPU, but both were within normal ranges. What could be causing this? Please share the temperature screenshot taken while playing COD.

is the processor equipped with a cooling system and is it properly installed? does the fan operate effectively? is there minimal dust accumulation around it? is the environment comfortable without excessive heat? is there a location for the computer to access fresh air? are you performing additional checks beyond temperature monitoring?

Im using a stock cooler, all the fans are running correctly, admit that it have bit of dust. I haven't removed anything or done anything on hardware level. It was a Pre-Built PC. And my room is ventilated enough and also when i run my PC my room ceiling fan will be running at max. Haven't done any diagnostics also.

Which graphics cards are you using? I’m assuming your setup has an advantage because a CPU would struggle more to keep the frame rate high, and a stronger GPU could generate more heat than it handles.

The 6750XT offers better performance with an increased TDP of +85W, which adds extra heat into your case and raises the CPU cooler's intake temperature. Its superior performance compared to the 7600 leads to more CPU usage in many games, boosting frame rates and contributing to higher temperatures. TDLR: A stronger GPU tends to increase CPU load and heat across typical builds.

Operating at 100 degrees is quite alarming, isn't it?

It shouldn't reach 100°C under gaming stress. I'd consider upgrading the cooler.

Consider upgrading to a higher-quality cooler instead of just replacing it.

In addition to using thermal paste, refreshing it is a cost-free option. This should be considered, and you may decide to swap out the cooler later.
