Processor reaches 100°C, clock frequency drops to 0.2ghz. System powers down.
I was just playing FC 25 when my PC froze unexpectedly. It shut down so quickly I assumed the power went out. Since then, whenever I restart it, it stays on for 2 to 6 minutes—usually around 2 to 3, but sometimes up to 6. In Task Manager, the clock speed drops to 0.2ghz after about a minute and 50 seconds, sometimes earlier if I try to open Google. Speccy reports the CPU temperature reaching 100 degrees. These events occur together, and usually, about 2 to 6 minutes after powering on, it turns off. This has happened while I was idle, and I haven’t even tried launching a game yet.
Check your PC for fan activity on the CPU cooler. What model do you have?
Did you remove the plastic cover from the CPU cooler and did you spread thermal paste?
It seems the plastic wasn't removed from the cooler where the CPU connects to the heat pipes.
