Recently I've noticed my computer fans getting much louder when only one old game runs at low settings (like in an old RuneScape). I tried applying some new thermal paste and wiped the old one, thinking it might have been there for a long time. Now the CPU temps are normal according to AI Suite 3, but the fan speed is still high and noisy. I've looked up fixes and even removed the cooler to reapply paste, but everything seems fine. My dad also did some fan maintenance with an air compressor. Recently I upgraded my SSD from a 840 Evo to a larger 870 500GB model, which worked well. I'm trying to save money but it's frustrating because this setup was handed down eight years ago. Thanks for any help you can offer—I really need it to hear myself think clearly.
It seems like the pump could be failing or has reached the end of its life, given how old it is. It’s probably a fairly standard AIO model, typically lasting only 3 to 5 years. Likely, swapping it out would be the best solution, especially since you’ve already checked the mounting pressure.
You can verify the situation by checking the temperature readings on the part labeled with the Corsair logo above the CPU. If one side feels warm while the other remains cool, it suggests the component is functioning properly. The presence of a single hot and one cool pipe indicates normal operation.
If it functioned properly, the incoming and outgoing fluids wouldn't have such large temperature differences. Since the pump moves the water through, any blockage would cause heat to move via conduction on the unblocked side, leaving the other side cold. Consider swapping in the cooler.
Thanks, I’ll check for a suitable cooler this evening. Just to verify the radiator stayed cool and one pipe was excessively hot, while the CPU ran between 60-90 degrees.
