The Mini USB connection to the CPU block uses a USB header, so you must install compatible software (like NZXT CAM) to ensure optimal performance. Without it, the pump will run at about 20% speed, preventing proper water circulation and heat dissipation. When idle, low temperatures occur because the CPU generates minimal heat for the reduced pump speed, allowing adequate cooling. NZXT CAM is essential for all NZXT AIOs since they aren’t managed by the BIOS; otherwise, the devices won’t function properly without the software or faulty adapters. Newer models like the X73 RGB tend to cool less effectively over time (my experience shows this), which could indicate the software isn’t compensating or the fan isn’t activating enough. In CAM, check pump speed and liquid temperature under "Cooling" to diagnose pump, fan, or radiator problems. If you’re pushing your Ryzen to higher speeds, aim for at least an X73 model—based on my testing at 90°C.

He has CAM available, but it's unclear if it's linked to the AIO through USB yet. It's also a 120mm unit, mounted on a standard 5800x furnace. Despite running at 40W, it shouldn't be achieving 90°C.

That's a great job capturing the details! The issue was connecting the internal USB header to the motherboard.

I heard a strange rattling sound coming from the PC, initially assuming it was just a fan. After opening it up and checking each fan, it turned out the noise came from the radiator. I ordered a replacement 240mm one, thank you for your assistance! Additionally, with the NZXT cam setup, the CPU cooler appears in all the RGB zones, but not the radiator. I’m not sure why it never showed up before.
