Hey everyone, I’m facing an issue where my processor hits 100% usage during games, while the GPU stays below 60%. This causes a drop in FPS and is really frustrating. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? My setup includes a Core i3 9100F, GTX 1060, 3GB RAM, and a Crucial cooler. Thanks for your help!

Check if other applications are using the CPU. Which games are you running? If processing slows down, an upgrade might be necessary.

Consider upgrading your CPU or minimizing active applications. Begin by checking which game is running. In Task Manager, navigate to the CPU section, right-click the graph, and select "Change graph to." Observe whether all cores are being utilized or if only a few are active. Once you've identified the process, test the game in-game and inspect the Task Manager under "Processes." Determine if the game is the primary CPU consumer or if background applications (such as RGB utilities) are consuming resources.

This indicates the CPU is limiting GPU performance. The main fix is upgrading the CPU. Small gains could come from:
- Enhancing CPU cooling to avoid throttling
- Raising game resolution (more GPU work reduces the bottleneck)
- Overclocking the CPU (not feasible on an i3 9100f)
- Underclocking the GPU
None of these will boost actual speed, just lower the numbers.

Consider a CPU upgrade while boosting graphics settings to free up the GPU and reduce the CPU's workload.

Nothing is running except my drivers, task manager, and occasionally my CPU drops to around 30% during Minecraft. I’m curious about what my GPU is up to.

I chat about Minecraft Apex and Rocket League regarding the CPU. I recently upgraded to a new CPU, replacing my old Pentium G4560. Was it really my GPU that was the issue, or am I mistaken?

Apologies for the mistake, purchasing the Core i3 9100F wasn't right. What should you do next?
