Processor not responding or RAM failure issue.
Hey everyone! A few days ago my computer would freeze while playing games and some background apps were running. Now it just powers on but doesn’t respond. When I looked under the motherboard, I saw a gap on the processor fan. I tried getting a new board because my electrical issues often cause problems, but nothing worked. I changed the RAM slot, swapped out the GPU, plugged in a speaker, and even unplugged the RAM—still no signal. It turns on quickly, then shuts off repeatedly. I checked my old Core 2 Duo PC’s PSU and it was fine. So it seems the issue is with the RAM or processor. Can anyone tell me which part might be faulty so I don’t have to spend too much? My setup includes: CPU – AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, Motherboard – ASRock X370M HDV (old), ASRock B450M Steel Legend (new), RAM – Kingston KVR26N19S8/8 (single slot), PSU – Evga 500BR, GPU – Vega 8, Fan – stock, Storage – 1TB Western Digital HDD. Note: I only have this PC and my old Core 2 Duo, and I plug it in correctly.
Start by turning on the system using just the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and CPU cooler with a 24-pin connector, then connect the monitor to the motherboard. This allows you to verify both components and reset the CMOS.
It seems one part of the system might be faulty because it was swapped. The CPU, RAM, and PSU could be the real issues you mentioned testing the PSU on an older setup. Without a spare CPU or RAM, it’s tough to decide—maybe start by adding more RAM and checking if that helps, especially since running two 8GB units isn’t necessarily bad if everything works fine.
