Hi, I just completed setting up my first PC (it functions fine). However, I noticed the CPU fan, temperature, voltage, and clock speed increase even when usage is low around 5%. Could you assist? This behavior doesn’t match expectations. I’d like it to maintain a low clock and fan speed during light workloads. I’m running a Ryzen 7 3700X with a B450 Tomahawk Max and enabled precision boost. I’m curious if the motherboard is automatically overclocking the CPU or restricting its clock reduction. I have gaming mode off and all BIOS settings at default, except XMP enabled for 16GB RAM at 3200MHz. I’m using AMD balanced power plan with the minimum CPU state set to 5%. Any additional details would be appreciated. Thanks. EDIT: Power-saving plan causes fan to drop and stay low as expected. Perhaps the 5% setting isn’t active in AMD balanced plan? In Zen 2, they often behave unpredictably when idle.

Typical behavior for contemporary processors is indeed observed. My i7 performs just as well.

Also consider Ryzen Master or HWiNFO for monitoring. HWMoniyor is known for inaccurate readings and misleading data.

That's a significant difference! The homework mentioned a consistent frequency of 4000MHz, while the master stated around 2000MHz during idle.

This feature is exclusive to Ryzen Master, allowing it to monitor Zen mode accurately without requiring a full power state. It provides genuine idle readings by observing cores without activating them.
