Processing Unit for Video Streaming
I'm developing a build for a high-end HD multi-stream video player. The supplier is requesting an unusually high price for an i7-9700K or GTX 1660 setup. I'm aiming to assemble my own system but haven't found clear recommendations for the best AMD or Intel CPU options. It's intended for a premium security video monitoring solution, handling 30 to 50 720P to 1080P streams across 3 to 4 monitors. I'm thinking of pairing a Ryzen 7 3700X with an RTX 2060S or similar GPU. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Genetec Security Center seeks an extremely high price, possibly double or more than standard costs. The encoding uses H.264 at bit rates ranging from 1200 to 12000 depending on the stream. The GPU handles decoding. The most advanced systems currently available are an i7-7700K paired with a GTX 1060 (6GB), intended to upgrade older machines that run much less powerful hardware.
I’m still planning to purchase their boxes, though I think 3600/3700x and a 1660 should work well. Based on my experience with decoders on those cards, they can manage over 1000fps H264 720p decoding, so the processing will likely run on the GPU.
