First time using PC Builder, received parts for Christmas and assembled them: Relevant components include AMD Ryzen 7 7700 X CPU, MSI MAG Coreliquid C360. Occasionally the computer starts up with temperatures that are normal, but then rise during booting and stay high—usually between 90-100°F. Sometimes the cooler seems to help lower temps, though it eventually climbs again. I applied more thermal paste last night after hearing it might be the problem. Now it’s back to the same situation. Is this related to the cooling system? Did I overapply paste before? Need advice. Any additional details would be appreciated.

Too much paste isn't usually the problem. More likely, the pump itself is faulty since MSI AIO models often encounter issues. It's strange though—it sometimes functions but not consistently. Verify that both the AIO PUMP and power plugs are securely connected.

I'm aware MSI has faced significant problems with their R series AIOs, and the model you're considering might be impacted. Still, the 7700x is built to reach a thermal threshold of 95°C before any further adjustments like downclocking. Operating at temperatures up to 95°C is acceptable (provided your cooler functions), but temperatures between 90-100°C during idle are not advisable.

AIOs require a lot of effort for new installers to troubleshoot and service. A $35 air cooler would suffice with that chip. What speed does it run at? It’s an MSI CoreLiquid, so it’s likely clogged inside—those units have a reputation for being unreliable. Where is the radiator mount? The pump is located in the radiator.
