Over the past two weeks I've noticed the processor temperature spikes high during gameplay. The i5 12600k (without OC) is running on MSI MAG CoreLiquid C240 liquid. At idle it's around 60°C, but it hits over 90°C while playing. I've replaced the thermal paste and confirmed the fan works properly. I've also updated the OS, BIOS, and drivers. It might be related to the motherboard or CPU itself—could you let me know?

I've attempted to enter my serial number, but the system indicates incompatibility with your model. It only supports versions 240R and 360R, while I have the 240. I've reached out to their support team for clarification.

No, they are not warmer in terms of temperature.

Yes, there are plenty of possibilities. It's typical to imagine the warm fluid moving through one channel while the cold flows through another.

Yes, the pump appears to be functioning properly. I expect the entry and exit ports of the radiator will differ by a similar amount. Regarding updates, were there any changes around two weeks ago when you observed the CPU overheating?

The video at 11:25 suggests that a significant temperature difference indicates the pump is dead. This seems accurate based on the information provided.

the system works by detecting changes. when fluid moves, it flows to the radiator to cool down via fans passing through the ribs, making the return tube cooler. this variation likely comes from movement, even though it seems disconnected. according to logic, heat should distribute evenly between tubes. if the water stays still, the difference would be less pronounced because the liquid retains more heat. i’m testing a custom loop myself, as I don’t fully trust AIO units—they often run too small. until you can monitor the liquid temperature directly, either by opening the loop or using an inline sensor, the best you have are displays with CPU-mounted temps or vendor software.

I connected the pump connector to a CPU_FAN to check if it was off, but it was still spinning at 4000rpm. I recently purchased another AIO, which will be delivered in two weeks. I’m still having issues with the new one, so I plan to return the processor and get a replacement under warranty. Thank you very much for your assistance!

The temperature drops quickly when the pump is turned off and then restarted. Could there be an issue with the system or a temporary fluctuation?

The pump might not be working even though it appears to be rotating, possibly due to a different issue. A peculiar fan path in the BIOS could halt the pump right after connection. There might also be air trapped inside the pump. Try moving the setup so the pump is completely under the radiator and observe the outcome.
