Hey there, I'm working on a build for video editing and similar projects. Everything else is set, so I'm focusing on CPU choices. I've got the Z790 Tomahawk with Wi-Fi, 64GB DDR5, 6400MHz RAM, RTX4070, an MSI A850G, plus a Lian Li case and an Artic LPIII cooler. Now I'm struggling to pick between some options. I can get an i9 12900K for about 270€ or an i7 13700K for around 330€. Both seem solid for my needs. Please don't suggest AMD CPUs, I just want the quicksync experience. Thanks for any other recommendations!

If the 13700K is brand new, I’d go for that. If it’s already available, I’m not sure—though Intel seems to be handling it differently. Likely I’d choose the 12900KS instead. But if it’s a fresh model, the 13700K is the best pick; it retains the same core specs, faster clocks (~), and more cache.

All the listed amounts have changed recently. I noticed a 14,700k could drop to 370 euros now, right? What do you think? Should we still go with the 13,700k?

There are more E-cores and cache, but the cost goes up significantly. It's unclear if this is beneficial for you—consider checking render time benchmarks for the CPUs in the software you use.
