I understand. I’m going with the 8700 without the K upgrade. I don’t expect to push it too hard, just need a stable CPU for gaming. It seems like a solid all-rounder for my needs.

That sounds like a solid decision. You’ll avoid losing any single core and have plenty of threads to use. It’s safe to expect some benefits over time. Upgrading now doesn’t make sense for your 2700x or 8700k at the moment. Consider waiting until DDR5 becomes available for desktops.
