Your CPU doesn't satisfy the recommended specs. You're starting at a basic level without Hyper Threading, which is typical. The GPU falls around 1080P to 1440P, and performance should improve with a more powerful CPU that has better thread count and higher clock speed. The downside here is your 9400f is locked for overclocking and lacks HT support—so you won't see much gain from it. The only possible boost might come from using higher memory speeds. Are you enabling XMP profiles for your RAM?
I'm using BIOS with default settings at 2400Mhz for RAM. I believe upgrading the CPU would be necessary. Thank you for your assistance.
Hey no problem. I understand the frustration. But believe me, with a highend video card and Cpu, an XBOX can't touch a gaming rig out there. However that may change once the Xbox Series X gets released featuring 8 core 16 thread AMD chip and Navi graphics......
It could work well as a good chip. It’ll really push your 9400f throughout the day.
And if you remember this post, I was curious about getting an i5 9600K. The main concern was my power supply—only 550 watts available. The GTX 1660 needs around 450 watts, and the 9600K draws 95, which is pretty close to the limit. Would that be feasible? Also, with a Prime H310M-R R2.0 motherboard, what’s the best CPU option you’d recommend?
If I were you, I'd search for a used 8700K with 6 cores and HT support. The 9600 offers the same 6 cores without HT. The 9700/k provides 8 cores but no HT. The 9900KS has 5GHz and 16 threads inside a box, though it's not very affordable. The Psu should be fine.
