Hey everyone, just updated my PC with an i7 CPU and watercooler. When I boot to Windows automatically, svchost.exe keeps running and my CPU hits 99%. I don’t know why this is happening and haven’t changed the registry yet. Anyone have a idea?

It's a memory leak issue I understand, and I know how to resolve it in XP. The article you linked is specific to XP, so I won't be able to help with other OSes directly. Let me know if you need guidance for a newer system.
I've never had a fresh Windows install on my SSD before because I already had Windows installed there. I used the SSD on my new PC, but nothing seems to be wrong now. I read some posts suggesting changes to the registry, but that didn't help. After upgrading to Windows 8.1, everything is working fine—no strange Svchost processes showing up in Task Manager, and it's not crashing. Still, I'm not sure what caused the issues.
