I found out I never adjusted my RAM to its maximum speed. I have two sticks of Vengeance 8GB at 3600MHz. When I turn on XMP in BIOS, the computer takes a minute to start, then three beeps sound—likely indicating a memory issue. It takes longer to boot, and once it starts Windows with just one beep. In Task Manager, my RAM speed shows 2133MHz, but I’m confused because the error suggests something is wrong. Restarting doesn’t fix it; XMP remains enabled but speed isn’t reflected correctly. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900X, and the motherboard is GIGABYTE Aorus Elite B550 AX v2. RAM is Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB at 3600MHz.
Start with caution when relying on Task Manager; its updates don’t always provide accurate data. It tends to perform well after Skylake unless you’re using BCLK, but it still has limitations. For more trustworthy memory reporting, use tools like CPU-Z or HWInfo. Considering the boot error, it seems the system might be booting into safe mode, which could explain the issue. You’ll also need part numbers for your RAM and motherboard to get a precise solution. XMP settings aren’t ideal—they’re far from optimal. A 2x8GB 3600 MHz setup usually functions, though not always. Try verifying you're using the correct memory slots; slots 2 and 4 are ideal for overclocking on most boards. If your RAM isn't in those slots, you may face problems achieving higher speeds. Review BIOS updates, as newer versions can break memory support for certain ICs. Some AMD boards have revisions that prevent 3600 MHz operation even with compatible kits. Consider updating or rolling back to an older BIOS version to test stability. Manually set XMP parameters if needed, especially with Corsair DIMMs on AMD processors, as they often behave unpredictably at XMP.
