I've encountered problems updating to the newest Windows versions (1909 & 1903). The download works, but the restart and update sequence causes issues—system restarts, then the update starts, followed by an error screen and the laptop shutting down. I own a Lenovo G50-80 and the battery isn’t charging properly. Could the battery problem be contributing to this behavior?

Windows shouldn't depend on battery life as long as you're connected to an external source. You might want to take it off to test, but it's tough to pinpoint the problem without the full error details. I believe Windows keeps a log somewhere; you'd need to search online for it. There are cases where it just says "Something went wrong" and suggests a boot partition issue (like being too small), which usually required a fresh install to fix.

I’ll attempt the battery method, though I’m not very optimistic about its success. It seems the issue isn’t with space since I have ample free room on my SSD (over 60GB). Checking the error logs hasn’t provided much clarity either.

The problem wasn't the main Windows partition but a tiny 500 MB boot area that Windows generates when installing. It seemed to be only 250 MB, which was insufficient for the update and resizing didn’t resolve it. This isn’t necessarily your concern—just look for the log file Windows should have created during the update; it likely holds more details. If you share it here, others might help identify the issue.
