Hello, I recently purchased a pre-built PC and have been using it smoothly. Recently, I tried reinstalling Windows via the media tool through BIOS and after the installation it reported that the software was already activated. I’m planning to buy an original copy, but since this issue occurred, I suspect the Windows might be cracked and the activation hasn’t been fully removed. All partitions were deleted in the media tool before the fresh install. What happened? What should I do next? Thank you.

Windows may be able to install a genuine copy. A valid key could have been enabled and linked to your motherboard.

I'm not certain about its legitimacy. I've run some checks to confirm, and it doesn't seem genuine. You can try undoing the action if you wish.

I don't understand what you're asking about. If you've reinstalled Windows 10 and it's activated, the issue might be resolved automatically. You likely won't need to enter a key afterward unless hardware changed or you used a different account. Since it's a prebuilt device, the product key should already be embedded in the motherboard. The MS media creation tool shouldn't have installed a fake copy of Windows 10.

I'm pretty sure this Windows version is damaged. I reached out to the previous owner, who confirmed it was indeed a problem. I didn’t use an MS account, my local account was completely erased, and the issue persisted. He mentioned he used a Ratiborus KMS tool, which makes me concerned. How can I fix this? Are these keys permanent or linked to hardware/bios? Thanks.

Never worked with cracked Windows before. I believe that tool isn't permanent. It doesn't install itself onto the device. As I mentioned earlier, if you used the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, you haven't downloaded a pirated version of Win10. You're likely either having a 30-day free trial of Win10, which will request a key after 30 days, or your system already recognized and activated the digital signature of your hardware automatically. If you have a product key, click Start > *Type in* Activation > Click Change Product Key
