Problems with USB on X99 and Windows 10
Hello everyone, I’m dealing with a setup that includes a Gigabyte X99 gaming ultra I7 6850K MSI GTX 1070, 32 GB DDR4 3200 quad channel RAM. There are problems like the mouse freezing sometimes and the keyboard sending repeated keys while typing. These seem to be system issues rather than problems with my peripherals. I’m unable to switch between USB drives, and transfers stop completely. This occurs only on Windows 10, though I tested it on Ubuntu without any issues. My BIOS is F6, but the Gigabyte drivers on their site don’t support Windows 10, showing errors like unsupported OS or missing requirements. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead!
No new driver releases appear in Windows updates. It’s unclear which controller the Gigabyte board employs, but checking their official driver catalog shows only Intel support, and Intel hasn’t issued updates for this setup after review.
It seems the setup likely involves a controller on a glue logic chip, possibly a southbridge. You might want to try downloading the ASUS X99-DELUXE Intel USB 3.0 driver 3.0.0.34 for Windows 7 or 64-bit from softpedia.com. Before that, installing Windows 7 64-bit and manually choosing an installed file via Device Manager could be a good next step.
