I've upgraded my system to a 9800x3d and 5070ti with 32GB RAM. Right now I'm playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Battlefield 2042, Silent Hill: F and Borderlands 4. I usually run multiple windows on the PC for work and switch it off in the evenings for gaming. I've noticed that restarting the PC every few days helps Borderlands 4 and Silent Hill: F run better. My other games don't need this, they just work fine. Anyone else had similar experiences? Could it be related to Unreal Engine game optimization?

It's discussed in the Borderlands 4 fix thread and various gaming news sites that explain it clearly. Epic also added their perspective.

For smoother performance on Silent Hill F, adjust the frame cap at the front edge to sync with 160fps in the RTSS drop lumen settings from Epic. Use the NVIDIA app to set it to high smooth motion. If needed, boost DLSS quality to maintain GPU usage below 90%. The game should run steadily at a consistent 160 fps, with minor fluctuations staying around 148. If you keep background apps open, they may interfere—consider closing them to let the game focus on the process.

The movement was very smooth and made a significant impact. Appreciate it once more.

I appreciate working with games that aren’t perfect. I’m exploring ways to improve their performance and make them more fun. It’s not clear if I prefer tweaking settings over playing the originals, but I’m halfway through Silent Hill. Justin, if you’re unsure about setting up the frame limiter, downloading MSSI afterburner, installing it, and using the included tools like RTSS Open Afterburner, just follow the steps carefully. Once installed, go to the system tray and open the program that appears—there should be a small blue window. Enter 160 in the frame limit box, click settings, then choose async. You’ll see more options, including front edge sync.

Thanks for the feedback! The smooth movement really improved both Silent Hill and Borderlands 4, and it performs exceptionally well. This seems to be essential for Unreal Engine 5 projects.

It’s not required here, this version already fits the frame generation and offers superior smoothness

It eliminated the occasional stutters I experienced.
