You're facing issues during the transfer of your old Windows installation files. The errors you're encountering are likely due to file corruption, incomplete checksums, or mismatched file formats. Since there are over 750,000 files, it's common for some to fail. Try verifying file integrity with checksums, ensuring all files are in compatible formats, and retrying the transfer. If the problem persists, consider using a backup tool or contacting Microsoft support for further assistance.

Utilize disk cloning tool such as macrium reflect to back up the whole disk. Alternatively, employ a Linux live USB for transferring particular files or folders. Windows may interfere when copying secured files or those actively used by the system.

Ignoring all problematic files stops the process, likely due to the history.ie5 folder. The initial issue appeared as a shortcut error, so I removed many shortcuts.

Ensure your backup drive is sufficient and has available space to create a new partition using macrium reflect. If not, consider copying files directly from a Linux live USB—such as Rufus—to an USB drive. Boot from the USB, open your file manager, locate the Windows drive, and transfer files there without interference.
