Problems with TP-link N900 PCIe WiFi adapter
I've been using this card (Model Tl-WDN4800) for more than two years without any issues. Recently, over the past two to three weeks, I've noticed a problem when turning on my computer. It connects to the network but can't establish a stable connection. Only my computer is affected; other devices, like my phone, are using the same bandwidth without trouble. The card runs on Windows 8.1, while I have Windows 10 installed. I'm not sure if the issue is related to the driver since there are no newer versions available from TP-links. I saw a possibility of getting a Windows 10 driver through Qualcomm, which makes sense given the card's manufacturer.
My usual troubleshooting steps have been:
- Running Windows built-in troubleshooter and hoping it resolves the problem.
- Trying "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" via Command Prompt.
- Deleting the device from Device Manager, scanning for hardware changes, and reconnecting.
- Executing "netsh winsock reset" and "netsh int ip reset".
- If all else fails, resetting the router—which isn't ideal since other devices on the same network are fine.
I suspect the problem lies with the WiFi card itself and might require replacement. It functions perfectly once connected, so I'm uncertain about the next steps. Would it be better to swap out the network card or explore additional fixes?
Router details: I'm on Rogers ISP, they supplied the router with model number CGN3ACSMR.
