Hey! I just got a Toshiba L850-1RX laptop and did some cleaning and added RAM sticks and an HDD. It was running smoothly yesterday. But now, when I started a simple open-source game, the screen flickered with some squares. After turning it off and back on, the same issue happened. I’m not sure if it’s a GPU problem or something with the drivers—since I’m using Linux Mint 22.1. Any advice would be great!

Inspect the external display. The HD7670M has significant GPU problems and driver issues over time, making it unreliable. It seems like a poor investment—don’t expect long-term performance. Hope you didn’t spend too much on this outdated machine. You might be able to turn it off in BIOS and use an alternative GPU.

I'll take a closer look at that.

It functioned briefly. I reached Linux but faced distorted visuals. After upgrading RAM to 2x8GB, I attempted to boot Windows, which still displayed a corrupted screen before shutting down. I checked all sources, but the "disable GPU" setting wasn't available. What should I do?

It seems your GPU might have stopped working unexpectedly. The price of $70 could be worth a better business laptop.
