Hey everyone, I just got an Asus Rog Strix 570-F. Previously, my ASRock board had a known issue where it wouldn’t boot from cold. After resetting everything to defaults, I tried the same on this new machine, but my Ryzen 9 3900X isn’t running at full speed in some cases. On single core it’s around 4.55Ghz, and multi-core drops to about 3.80Ghz. My ASRock board shows 4.22Ghz on single and then quickly falls to 4.08Ghz. Multi-core stays at stock 3.80Ghz. Single core temps are even lower than my ASRock setup—60°C during testing. Full multi-core load reaches 81°C, though the fan speed was higher on the ASRock board. My BIOS version is 3001. If this is the cause, let me know if I should tweak or reset any settings.
I believe Asus has certain options in their BIOS that let you increase performance further. My understanding is quite basic, but I’m not sure what to do right now. Feel free to check the BIOS yourself while you wait—someone else might be here soon.
So I updated bios and got better performance in benchmark tools. Sadly games don't seem to be hitting 4.22ghz like they use to on the asrock but my cinebench score has gone up by 100 points. Here is my cinebench score anyway hopefully its good for stock ryzen with no manual OC.
Go into DiGi + VRM, find the place for thermal limits and other adjustments. Based on cooling needs, adjust to 130% in the settings. Anthony can clarify it more clearly.
Gaming with the core clock consistently at around 3.85ghz has been an issue lately, and I’m also experiencing some problems that used to be rare. It’s puzzling why it keeps dropping. I’m considering a fresh Windows install just in case. The temperatures in the game stay around 65°C, but under stress tests the CPU stays below 81°C. I’m curious if ASUS includes a thermal throttle setting capped at 81°C. On my old ASRock board, it could reach up to 89-90°C while still maintaining boost performance, which is definitely hot.
