I set up the system and the VGA diagnostic light is active. The GPU and motherboard are brand new. I test my old GPU, which functions well on my 1500x machine. Then I try the new GPU in my older setup, but it doesn’t show any output either. I don’t see any diagnostic LEDs on the new system, yet the VGA light stays on. I’m stuck—what’s happening? Maybe I need to try something else or wait for a better chance.

You might consider returning your GPU and motherboard through RMA. It's unfortunate if they fail upon delivery.

It functions properly when you connect a display cable to the motherboard, but for testing it’s safest to avoid using the main graphics card slot without a reliable graphics card. What kind of older motherboard was used? Some of these newer components perform poorly in earlier computers.

It's a Asus Prime B350-PLUS. I think the mobo is definitely doa. I return it to the online retailer see what they say.
