Problems with Ram?
I just installed a 3900x, a Strix X570 MOMO and Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB RAM at 3200Mhz. The odd thing happened when I tried to enable XMP—my BIOS showed an 8D or 22 error code. It seems I had to manually adjust the clock speed one by one and restart until it worked at 3200, even though I was using 1.35V. Is this typical? Shouldn’t XMP handle that smoothly?
It doesn't seem typical. Likely a motherboard or RAM issue. You can test each by using memtest.
MemTest will check the integrity of your RAM and report any issues. The symptoms depend on what’s wrong—memory errors, crashes, or slow performance. Running it with 2133 is a standard test; increasing the value isn’t necessary unless you suspect a specific problem.
Consider testing with standard or extended mode. If there are no errors, it might indicate the motherboard is functioning correctly.
Run it at 3200MHz. To eliminate both options, use another motherboard if available.
It seems the issue might be with a faulty or damaged RAM stick causing instability. I removed all the RAM one by one, checked if the system booted using XMP, and found that only one worked. Then I tried two known good sticks in the correct slots, and they all passed. It looks like it was a bad stick that needed replacement.
