Hello, here’s how my setup looks right now: TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0600-KR), Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) LGA1150 Processor, Z97-K Intel Z97 (Socket 1150), DDR3 ATX Motherboard Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD. I upgraded from my previous system by swapping the motherboard, CPU, hard drive (with SSD), and RAM. All components were purchased from Overclockers UK. After installing the new parts, I only added one RAM stick and attempted to boot Windows 10 64-bit using a genuine key from a CD. The installation froze right after copying Windows files (I did a clean install). I tried it via USB too, but the same issue occurred. Linux 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit also failed consistently. I reinstalled my old HDD, tried again, and still faced shutdowns after about a minute on Windows 32-bit. After restarting, changes didn’t persist. I downloaded RealTemp to track CPU temperatures on Windows 32-bit, which stayed under 30°C but still caused shutdowns. Once the PC restarted, all updates vanished. I haven’t reused Windows 32-bit yet. Could anyone suggest ways to troubleshoot this? I’ve followed many guides and asked for help, but the problem keeps happening. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to ask if you need more details.

You're asking about what "Shutting Down" means—specifically a hard shutdown where everything stops abruptly and the screen goes black. You also mention a bad power supply unit.

It seems there might be an issue with power stability, possibly related to the PSU. All components appear brand new. Try resetting the CMOS and restarting. How long have you used this PSU? Was it operating near its maximum capacity with your previous setup? Do you have another PSU available for testing? Inspect the capacitors on the motherboard to confirm there are no shorts.

@Lukep123 Remember to adhere to any discussions you begin.

I considered the possibility that the issue might be with the power supply unit. It was the only component I hadn’t replaced. The PSU is 12 months old and hasn’t been used heavily, yet the PC was idle for 24 hours at times. I plan to acquire a replacement PSU to test and follow your recommendations. I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Thank you. Fully power off the system; everything stops completely with no errors, just a sudden shutdown. The PSU worked fine in my previous build, so I didn’t expect problems until I needed a better one. It’s unclear why it shuts down during idle on Windows—even though it ran 32-bit perfectly at installation time, it always ends up stopping at the same point. This random behavior is puzzling. I’m not sure what else to try.

It seems the BIOS is configured for UEFI and you're attempting an MBR-based OS install. The process encountered a shutdown after copying files. Ensure your BIOS is in UEFI mode and Secure Boot is enabled. Use Rufus to format and copy Windows ISO from your USB drive. After installation, boot from the USB and choose Custom Install. Remove all partitions except the boot partition (usually labeled "Drive 0: Unallocated Space") before starting. Follow the prompts carefully. Let me know how it goes.

I initially believed it would function properly, it progressed to the next phase and reached 46%, but then it stopped working again. It started shutting down unpredictably before the setup even started.

Do you want to test a different HDD or SSD? It might be a hardware issue.

I've tested various HDDs and SSDs, including brand new ones. The problem continues in both cases.

I don't have another system for this, but I'll attempt to find a solution.
