Hello, I bought a new gaming laptop (Dell G16 7630) with 32GB of RAM. However, it seems like the memory isn’t working properly, causing slow performance. Checking Task Manager shows several apps using around 100MB each, which doesn’t match the full 32GB. Could you help me understand what might be happening and suggest a solution? I’d appreciate any advice, and I hope this is the right forum to ask—I can’t confirm my contact details. Thanks!

Review the actual memory usage reported in Windows via the Task Manager Performance section. Verify there are no discrepancies or missing data. Even with a modest GPU, some systems allocate significant RAM to the graphics card. After confirming your system holds 32Gb of memory, you can track usage more precisely: start TaskMgr as Administrator and open it; this often reveals hidden background processes. Alternatively, run a Command Prompt with admin privileges and execute a command that exports detailed Task Manager statistics in CSV format, which you can then import into Excel or Google Sheets for analysis. In Excel, format the data accordingly and filter by memory usage to identify which applications consume the most resources.

Thank you for your message. It looks like IntelliJ was consuming a lot of memory, which might be causing the problem. Closing it resolved the issue, and since I've updated IntelliJ, it should be fixed. This likely explains why both my old laptop (32GB RAM) and this one had similar issues, especially since I often work on Java projects.
