It seems the issue might be with the power supply unit. The 1080ti works well at 1440p, but if monitors are switched on and the GPU needs more power, the PSU may fail to provide it, causing crashes. It could also be that the card isn't outdated, and no new games are optimized for higher performance cards yet. The best solution would be to replace the PSU and test it. This is just my assumption based on what you described.

I overlooked the PSU in my evaluation since I believed problems only emerge after a long time or from poorly known manufacturers. With a 750W rating, I assumed it wasn’t a power consumption issue. Now it makes sense.

The problem appears to be connected to Windows 10. After trying a workaround, Furmark now works smoothly. The GPU temperature was logged at 78 degrees, but the root cause has been found. What might be interfering with your GPU access?
