I recently purchased a new PC fully built and ready for gaming. After spending a year with integrated graphics, I eagerly wanted better visuals, which led me to download GTA V. When I started the game, I was impressed by how well my 960 handled the graphics. However, performance quickly declined. After about ten seconds, the game would freeze for roughly three seconds. I thought it was just a loading issue, but it persisted through the early missions and became unplayable. I adjusted the settings but saw no improvement. Could you offer some advice?

Rig: GPU: GTX 960 OC edition
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 880k
RAM: 16 GB
PSU: 600W
SSD: 1TB
Help.

Ensure the latest GeForce drivers are installed for the 960. Retry after updating. If issues persist, consider reinstalling the game. Experiment with different settings, as certain visual effects might strain your GPU. Edited August 3, 2016 by Trav_X

Your current setup may cause performance issues in CPU-heavy titles

You're asking about the current game mode. Let me check... I'm playing in [insert game mode here].

Remove the graphics driver and all associated bloatware, then restart your system. Proceed with a custom or advanced installation and install the driver only as needed.
