Today I received my new Ryzen 5 3600 for my setup. I was thrilled since the previous CPU was limiting my RTX 2070’s performance, and it seemed accurate. I noticed higher usage and some titles ran about 30 frames per second faster, but then checked the CPU temperatures. While playing Far Cry 5, I experienced 30 to 60 percent load, yet my temps reached 80°C, occasionally exceeding that. I found this unusual because the stock cooler and fan movement were present, yet the readings were extremely high. I downloaded Prime95 to run a stress test and keep an eye on the CPU. After roughly 20 seconds, my CPU hit 90°C. I’m aware there’s thermal paste since I used the original cooler, but the temps are still shocking. My idle temperature is 50°C, though it fluctuates between 60 and 60°C. Anyone have any ideas about the issue? Specifics: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600, Board: B450, GPU: RTX 2070, RAM: 16GB DDR4.

I’ve got a newer cooler, but the temperatures haven’t dropped much. There’s still some improvement, but I’m still seeing around 50°C idle and between 70 to 80°C under load. I suspect the voltage issue might be the problem, though I can’t confirm it. The peak current tends to rise a lot and sometimes turns red, which seems to cause most of the heat. For now, I’ll keep it because as long as it stays under 80°C I should be okay.
The Wraith stealth included with the 3600 has some drawbacks. The AMD coolers, specifically the Wraith Max and Wraith Prizm, perform better compared to others. With the 3600 installed, the max unit operated smoothly with high performance. Under load, temperatures remained in the high 50s to low 60s.
