I recently purchased a used Z170-A for my build, mainly because it’s white and matches the overall aesthetic ^^. Everything functions properly except for audio. The rear IO has 3.5mm jacks, but headphones won’t work—Windows doesn’t recognize them, only sound through the monitor via displayport works. Using case front panel audio jacks also fails the same. I downloaded the driver from Asus’ site and installed it, but I got a warning to prevent shutdown during installation and nothing changed after about three hours. Anyone have any ideas? I’m really confused and need help. Thanks!

Consider turning off the display port audio device—it should appear in the speakers area. Your built-in audio might be present but hidden (use the 'show unsed devices' option). If needed, I’d have attempted to disable this DP audio device and retried driver setup. Also, press Windows + X on your keyboard, open Device Manager, and verify the audio section. Are there any unknown issues?

I'll attempt it. The device manager lists no audio devices besides the monitor.

You could also open the Sound Device Manager and look for "Show Not Connected Devices" or "Disabled Devices" to check your status.
