Problems with AMD software drivers reported.
Hey everyone, I need to share something—I really dislike AMD graphics drivers. It seems like I keep running into problems, and they’re coming back after a while. Initially, I faced some quirky issues like occasional screen flickering or audio glitches, sometimes just a couple times a week. Recently, while playing Baldur’s Gate 3, my game froze completely and I had to reinstall the drivers multiple times. This happened three times within an hour. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 3800X and my GPU is the AMD Radeon 5700xt OC from MSI. Right now I’m planning a clean driver install to clear any old issues, but I’m curious if anyone has additional tips—settings, BIOS adjustments, or advanced tricks—that might help resolve this. Thanks in advance, and I hope this isn’t too clear yet.
Verify your PC stability is the real issue. Ensure fast boot settings match in BIOS and Windows. Expect GPU driver crashes on 7000 series models. Test RAM performance. If you've applied any CPU overclocking, remove it—include custom PBO settings. Reinstall GPU drivers via DDU first. Start in safe mode; it will ask to launch DDU. After restarting in safe mode, open DDU options and disable "prevent windows update from installing drivers." Select remove then restart. Once back online, install the latest GPU drivers and check for chipset updates on your motherboard at the provided link.
I've been using this PC for a while now. At first, upgrading my RAM caused issues—clock speed was too high and I had to slow it down to avoid crashes. After that, things stabilized but still showed strange errors occasionally. Since then, I've managed to keep everything running smoothly, though it's not perfect. I have fast boot enabled in BIOS, so I should check if it's active in Windows. Using DDU, I tried uninstalling old drivers with Amd software, but after an hour of playing, the problem returned.
It's possible the RAM was affected, so give DDU and a fast boot attempt a try.
A crash in your display driver can cause all monitors to turn off.
