Hey everyone,
I was wondering if someone could assist me. I have an i7 4790k on an ASUS ROG Maximus 7 Formula motherboard with liquid cooling. The PC has been working fine recently, but after I left it for a while, I returned and noticed my CPU was constantly running at a high frequency—around 4.8 GHz, which I later managed to lower. Now it keeps turbo boosting between 4.0 and 4.4 GHz, which is within its boost range.

The problem arises when I try to reset the Asus Suite 3 to its default settings; it prompts me to reboot. After rebooting, my PC restarts but then shows a black screen, as if the monitor goes off and freezes. I’m not sure how to get past this issue right now.

I’ve tried resetting the BIOS, which helped, but ASUS seems to reapply the overclocking during Windows boot, making it hard to resolve.

Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Once uninstalled, verify if the OC remains; then reset the CMOS.

Can I start in SAFE mode? If that's possible, it may allow removing the AI Suite.

Can you enable SAFE mode? If yes, maybe remove AI Suite too.
But I don’t think this will help much since Asus Suite 3 is a live overclocking tool—it will still retain the overclock after uninstalling. Please check if that’s correct, as I just saw something on the ROG Forums.
