Hello! I'm looking for some advice on problems I'm experiencing with the G.Skill RAM kit I purchased. I bought a F4-3600C18D-16GTZN to upgrade my PC, which already includes an MPG X570 GAMING EDGE and a Ryzen 7 3700X. I had to return the first kit because one of the DIMMs had dead LEDs, but both modules functioned correctly at the advertised speed. Amazon sent me a replacement right away, so I decided to test it before sending back the first one.
The main issue is that I couldn't apply the XMP profile or manually adjust the overclock settings. Even when XMP was enabled, the RAM displayed incorrect speeds like DDR4-2133. When I tried manual overclocking, I received an error message from the BIOS. Nothing changed after resetting the BIOS, upgrading, flashing back, or resetting CMOS.
I then tried using the old kit with the dead LEDs, and XMP worked smoothly, showing DDR4-3600. When I tried the new kit again, the BIOS warned about a hardware change but kept the XMP profile. I haven't made any changes yet and have been able to boot without issues at the correct speeds.
I'm worried that I might still face problems if I have to reset the BIOS later. Should I return the second kit? Is it possible they're defective? Maybe I should try resetting the BIOS to see if XMP or manual settings become available. Perhaps the problem was just a temporary glitch? Thanks for your help!
I'd return that kit, seems to be a compatability issue between your board and the new sticks they sent you. I'd also ask directly for a set just like the others you have that actually works.... Or if they can't send a set like those, a refund.
Could have been due to a simple mistake when placing the new kit. It’s possible the sticks were mistakenly inserted into slots a1 and b1 instead of a2 and b2. Even if the kit functions after resetting the CMOS, everything should be okay. You might want to clear the CMOS and briefly remove the sticks before reinserting them.
They were definitely in slot A2-B2. Probably I'll attempt a reset later this afternoon.
Consider adjusting DRAM voltage manually to 1.35v, as certain BIOS versions have issues where XMP fails to set correct voltages.
I've attempted to reset the BIOS, but the newer setup is functioning properly. Both XMP and manual overclocking are working as expected. It seems the issue remains unresolved. I can still return it, but should I proceed?

I've reviewed the situation and regretfully can't exchange the motherboard without a legitimate reason, such as obvious defects or non-compliance. The 14-day return window applies only if the product wasn't used properly. If I attempt this return method, I risk being charged for the loss of value and likely denied a refund.
