Problems on x570 Taichi motherboard with Thunderbolt connections.
Asrock x570 Taichi Ryzen 7 5800x3d 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance is running at 3800MHz ASUS Thunderboltex 3 UAD apollo twin x Thunderbolt in BIOS (no security). The latest BIOS, chipset, and Windows updates are installed. Hello, I recently faced a problem with the Thunderbolt controller on my PC. It functioned perfectly after switching from an Intel platform, but after a month, it began displaying code 45 in Device Manager (device not detected). This issue only appears when the computer is turned off overnight. Restarting doesn’t help, and the connection remains stable. I’ve tested all limited BIOS settings on this motherboard and nothing resolved it. I also attempted rollback for both chipset and BIOS versions. There’s a noticeable increase in boot times when this started. In short, the Thunderbolt controller fails to power on after shutdown and forces me to reinsert the card into the PCIe slot each time I turn on the PC. Once done, everything works until the next shutdown. Please assist me
I saved the newest BIOS from AMD, thinking it might be the problem. I also got the latest AMD chipset from the same site. Used to work with ASUS BIOS, so finding the hybrid sleep setting on Asrock was a bit tricky. The Thunderbolt X card has fresh firmware and updates applied. The issue began recently, causing longer boot times before the controller would start normally. I didn’t make any changes between when it worked and when it stopped functioning.
I considered it might be the Thunderbolt card that was damaged, yet it functioned properly except when the system was cold.
The Asrock board includes a Thunderbolt header that matches the Asus card, but it's designed specifically for Asus boards. Expect limited compatibility with other systems. This hardware is proprietary.
Interestingly, a Reddit user pointed out that this setup isn't compatible. But for the first month it performed well. It might be related to leftover files from the Intel system I had before I didn’t clear my Windows installation. If that’s the case, I’d love to find out what those files were and how to restore them after reinstalling Windows. To clarify, I upgraded my motherboard and CPU to a Ryzen without removing Windows.
I used IOBit, but they said my Thunderbolt and AMD SMBus drivers needed an update. I’ll fix them when I power up my PC tomorrow. It seems unlikely to solve the issue, though the update offers some optimism.
