Hey, maybe the problem is tied to your phone itself. You've mentioned random app crashes, especially when opening Pikmin Bloom or Pokémon Go, and photo-taking issues. Restarting helps temporarily, but it doesn't always resolve it. The crashes seem inconsistent—sometimes they happen while using music or videos, other times just when you open the app. It's not a clear popup warning, just a sudden stop. You're on Android 13, which could play a role, but it might just be a coincidence. I don't have much info on similar issues, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's going on.

Xperia phones often face unexpected problems that only a handful of users encounter. Most cases stem from the standard Android version with minor customizations. This particular problem isn’t limited to stock devices; I’ve seen it on my LG V60 after tweaking app compilation via ADB. Reversing the adjustment resolved it. To help further, here are some details you might find useful:

- Where did you purchase the device?
- Was it new, refurbished, or used?
- How recently did you acquire it?
- Have you observed any other unusual symptoms?
- Can you explain what the strange behavior looks like in more detail?
- Did you notice any oddities when first removing the phone from the box (e.g., scratches, misaligned back panel, damaged USB-C port or headphone jack)?

P.S. My upcoming phone will be an Xperia. Xperia fans keep coming up with these issues!

It seems I was trying to respond earlier but missed. Here’s a revised version:

1. Uncertain since it was a gift; probably Amazon.
2. It's the third time now. These problems became clear soon after.
3. Around a year has passed. These issues were noticeable from the start.
4. See below for details.
5. Effectively, over time the apps started crashing more often.
6. YouTube videos would stop and the app would close, then just show a loading circle forever—forcing me to close and reopen.
7. Similarly, YouTube Music would shut down, requiring me to restart it. It eventually fixes itself, but opening Pikmin Bloom or Pokémon Go (possibly other heavy apps) can cause crashes too.
8. Taking photos with the camera app also leads to app crashes.
9. Generally, apps don’t stay in the background much. I switch from Pikmin to a web browser for quick searches and then reload Pikmin, which happens more often.
10. Nothing I remember about this. And yes, I really like the Xperia—its bezels are a big plus compared to a notch.

Most games include pause and resume options. This helps prevent the system from terminating the game because of excessive memory usage while browsing, so it enters a low-power mode and only retains essential data. When you return, needed resources will be refreshed into active memory. Yet these setups often presume a high-end machine. What the game requires in its suspended state can exceed what lower-tier devices can manage, forcing a full restart and risking loss of saved progress. This problem affects budget models, especially on Android. My initial device was an Umidigi A3S with limited specs—just 2GB RAM. Minecraft struggled to resume from pause because it needed more memory than available without killing the app. The Xperia 10 V offers double the RAM at 6GB, but newer Android versions increase background demands, making full reloads likely. Even then, YouTube Music would frequently crash in the background, sometimes alongside other apps. The Xperia 10 IV, with more RAM and updated Android, might handle it better. Android’s built-in app management can skip battery-saving features for certain apps, but if you block background processes, YT Music should pause sooner. Still, even with better hardware, running many apps together can strain performance. If you’re on a tight budget, consider using a laptop instead—especially for gaming or heavy tasks. A 500$ PC will outperform any smartphone in this scenario. It provides stronger processing, better storage handling, and more reliable software support. I hope you apply these tips wisely, and if upgrading your phone is necessary, think about investing in a computer first. It’s clear that for serious gaming or productivity, a proper machine is worth the investment.

I own a PC, but the two games I play on my phone are both "walk around the area" titles. Honestly, it doesn’t seem to be happening consistently—it varies a lot. Sometimes I can switch between apps smoothly, other times I just have to reload the app no matter what. It’s not a major problem, but it’s something I noted in my list.

I understand why this might be frustrating. Consistency has been an issue for a while on stock Android, especially on budget devices. It seems companies like Google have adapted by heavily optimizing the OS for their hardware, while others such as Sony take a bit longer due to smaller teams and budgets. Likely, what you're seeing will be resolved in the next major Android update—around version 14 for that phone.
