Problems in displaying object distances, textures, and shadows
In the past week I’ve observed recurring graphical problems common in certain games; yet these issues now appear consistently across every title I play. The main concern involves level of detail (LOD) and draw distance—objects seem to materialize abruptly without a smooth fade-in, appearing instantly when I approach. Textures and shadows also behave erratically, shifting quality suddenly instead of gradually. As I navigate game worlds these changes persist, giving everything an unnatural, low-quality feel. This disruption is especially bothersome because objects in the environment keep popping up, altering or vanishing abruptly right before my eyes. The problem is most evident with shadows, which I’ve captured in a few short clips to illustrate. The final two videos highlight shadow behavior at screen edges. It’s clear this bug spans all games, though its intensity varies—some are more noticeable than others. All components are under a year old. Performance metrics show everything functions normally, temperatures are stable, and all required updates and reinstalls have been completed. I’ve also verified both minimum and maximum settings.
frequency illusion is a mental shortcut that influences how we interpret data. It creates the impression that something new or unusual is widespread when it’s actually rare. Alternatively, it can be caused by hardware failure—like a bad intel chip—so consider contacting support for a replacement.
I need to view the video next... essentially I should try to submit a return request, as Intel probably will accept any warranty claims... but you'll also have to provide proof that the chip itself is the problem, you might want to run CineBench 23 to check the performance.
The multi-core test shows over 32,200 points and more than 2,140 on single-core with a TDP limit of 200W. At the default 253W TDP, performance gains disappear because the CPU throttles due to heat (air cooling). I noticed occasional drops in CPU usage during testing, though it seems normal. Additionally, my 3DMark scores were 1191 and 15318 previously.
The BIOS is current. I reinstalled the chipset driver (if applicable), removed the Nvidia driver via DDU in safe mode, and downloaded the newest version from Nvidia’s site, while also clearing the shader cache. So far, these steps haven’t resolved the problem. I currently have just one drive, and the only hardware I can swap is the GPU with a friend, which helps eliminate other causes. The issue began under a week ago, and it seems to appear after a BIOS update. I might consider going back to the earlier version.
