Yesterday only provided restart and update choices. After restarting, it upgraded to Windows 11 but caused problems like slow Windows Search and unexpected text field clicks. These issues disappeared after a few minutes. Another problem occurred during restarts: a black screen appeared with no cursor, and pressing Ctrl+Win+Shift+B turned the screen off but returned to black. This happened only on restarts, not shutdowns. After reverting to an earlier Windows version, the search issue was fixed, but restarting still led to a persistent black screen in Windows 10. Specs: CPU 8600k, Z370 motherboard, ASRock Killer Sli/AC GPU, MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3080, Trident 8x2 3200MHz RAM, M.2 Samsung 970 EVO 500GB, PSU Superflower Leadex III Gold 850W.

Windows 11 is still in development. That’s why I’m not being pushed to upgrade. Microsoft also said the update won’t be automatically sent to users. Support will only appear in the Settings under Windows Update. No forced changes were made.

So your system was updated to Windows 11 without you initiating it directly. You mentioned skipping the update and opting out, which means you didn’t actively choose to install it. That’s why it might seem forced since you had no other choice but to restart or delete files.

The only options are to exit the Insider program or reinstall Windows. Wait until the General Availability of Windows 10/11 matches your current build before leaving the Insider program. Even if you left, you remain in it until then.
