Hi, I just got a Phenom 2 system and was trying to set it up as an HTPC. I encountered some problems right away—when I attempt to install Windows 10, I see a black screen with BIOS info indicating the drive isn’t partitioned properly. This is different from the Windows 10 warning that says the drive is separate. I installed Windows 10 on another drive and moved it here, but it still doesn’t work. The DMI update process seems confusing, and I can’t find a reliable fix online. I also tried updating the BIOS, but the motherboard only recognizes a floppy drive, not the USB stick. My board is a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P and the CPU is a Phenom II X4 810 W. Anyone with more experience would be really helpful—I’d appreciate any advice.

Check if AHCI is available. If not, revert to AHCI settings.

This occurs consistently whenever you alter the BIOS settings. Observe the three dots and immediately it initiates searching for and launching the Windows Boot Manager from the C drive source. I’ve noticed this pattern on most Phenom-based systems I’ve worked with.

It will appear in Vista after resolving the problem under standard configurations, yet it doesn’t show up in Windows 10.
