Hello! I'm facing some issues with updating my Biostar X370GTN BIOS to ensure compatibility with my Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. I've already installed the latest update using my 1600, but I'm only using one stick of 8 GB DDR4-2667 RAM. Despite fans spinning and LEDs lighting up, the system won't boot. Anyone else have encountered similar problems during an upgrade? Any solutions you found would be appreciated!

The CMOS was cleared after installing the new CPU. The post will go with the 1600 unless otherwise specified.

I removed the CMOS after setting up the CPU. Specifically, after installing the new BIOS, I powered down the PSU, unplugged the 24-pin and 4-pin cables, took out the 1600 chip, unplugged the CMOS battery, let it sit for a while, and then reinstalled everything including the 3600. It will post with the 1600 included.

It will post with the 1600 included.

Yes, I verified the BIOS update through the CPU-Z motherboard tab and confirmed it matches the revision you installed.

Sorry for the confusion, sometimes the diagnostic tools struggle with limited details. I’d attempt to reset the CMOS again, though removing the 24-pin and CPU power isn’t necessary. You can skip those steps and jump the clear CMOS terminals on the board for about 10 seconds (longer if you’re quick). When you take the battery out, this process might need up to 10 minutes or more before the capacitors release all power and the BIOS fails to clear. When the board first boots with a new CPU, clearing can take up to 180 seconds—possibly a few minutes. The CPU might have poor socket contact. I’m sure you’ve checked the CPU several times already (guessing) looking for damage or bent pins. Just hold it up to the light and inspect all rows. It could be a faulty chip or the board simply can’t post the chip for an unknown reason. You might also try running diagnostics using the motherboard speaker connected to the front panel—perhaps you’ll hear a beep code. Those are some suggestions. I’m going to bed now. Good luck!
